This is the 'Two Stoned Cemetery' on 30th & A Road in Saunders Co. NE., found by a road crew about 3 yrs ago, while they were working on the intersection there.I have read this cemetery on March 2008.
Some info about this family I found on the internet....Susan C. Chastain is Emily Jane Chastain/Lawton's sister, now know as Mrs. Geo Lawton.
Walter is one of the 10 children born to Mr. & Mrs. Geo Lawton. Only 6 children were surviving in 1880. Other children of Lawton's are buried in the Valparaiso, Oak Cem west of Valparaiso.
I believe Geo and Emily are buried here also, but cannot find any proof of that yet. Geo and Emily homesteaded this corner of land (aprox. 1873) and had two houses on it, which one was rented out to their son or daughters for a few years. Geo's bro homesteaded across the road to the east of Geo.
Geo and Emily's home is still standing today, but being remodeled. On the photos in the background is there house and barn. The second house is gone.
Susan C. Chastain was born about 1851, Illinois. She was found in 1860 Taylorville, Christian Co., Ill.(at age 9yrs) on census with her sister's family-Mr. & Mrs. Geo Lawton, and with her brother Thomas J. (aged 15). Her sister Emily was born in Zaneville, Ill in 1839.
